A hub drum is a rotating part that connects a trailer's wheel to it's axle, and it houses the wheel bearings. Inside the hub drum is a stationary electric brake assembly plate with braking shoes and a magnet. The hub drum also provides a steel inner face for the magnet to adhere to when activated
